Events information

The Gardens provide a tranquil, lush setting for many outdoor events. In the past the Friends and other groups have hosted sculpture exhibitions and competitions, garden rambles throughout the district, guided tours and teddy bears’ picnics, and look forward to many more events. The Gardens are not only a great venue for simple pleasures like picnics, play, exercise, meditation or just a walk, they are also perfect for almost any celebration or gathering.

Sunday, April 19th

Autumn Community Picnic in the Gardens, 11.00am - 3.00pm. A free community event in conjunction with the Macedon Ranges Autumn Festival. BYO picnic. Our special guest is Dr Greg Moore, engaging and entertaining ABC Melbourne presenter and tree expert. Greg is a former Principal, University of Melbourne Burnley campus, he has been a member of the National Trust’s Register of Significant Trees since 1988 and its Chair since 1996. In 2017 he was awarded an OAM for his services to the environment and aboriculture, is the author of several books, book chapters and a significant number of scientific journal papers.

The program for the day includes:

  • Frank’s Caffeine Truck on site serving great coffee from 11am onwards.

  • At 11.30am Greg will offer his perspectives on the `Past, Present and Future of Kyneton Botanic Gardens’ in an interactive Q&A panel session. Following a performance by the Kyneton Primary School Choir and music from the `Hey Amigos!’ acoustic duet over lunch, Greg will lead a walking tour of the Gardens commencing at 1.30pm.

  • Fairy Caitlin and Simsalabim the Wizard will entertain the kids with face painting and activities at 11.30 and 1.30

  • The Friends group will have the Gardeners Cottage open all day with a display of historical information, plans and how to get involved.
