Winter in the Gardens

New irrigation has been installed in the Woodland area to ensure the bulbs, groundcovers, shrubs and trees we planted cope under the giant cedars. The last of the autumn colour is clinging on after a magnificent display, hedges have been clipped and various beds have been weeded, tidied and mulched. At the May working bee beautiful new hydrangeas were planted along with several osmanthus to border a pathway. Due to incessant rain the June event was cancelled but work will continue regardless.

Sadly, we have once again had plants removed from the Gardens by thieves. The number of plants, and the cost, is significant. We first reported the theft of plants to the Kyneton Police about eighteen months ago. Signs have also been attached to stakes in the Gardens to encourage vigilance and deter theft. The most recent report to Police was just a couple of weeks ago.

Council has now purchased two solar-powered cameras to be installed at entry/exit points in the Clowes Street vicinity on a trial basis. If these prove to be successful more will be installed.
