Being a Friend of the Botanic Gardens

If you have not already done so, we invite you to renew, or join, as a Friend of our Gardens for 2026/2027. By being a Friend you are helping to celebrate our historic gardens, support community events and provide vital financial support for their ongoing care. As well, several key Master Plan improvements currently in the pipeline (such as the proposed new pathway to complete the circuit walk) and the re-development of entire new areas of the Gardens (such as the `Welcome’ area on the site of the former caretaker’s house) are only possible with a strong supporter base of committed Friends and active volunteers.

Annual Subscription for the year to June 30th, 2027 is Single $20, Family $30. Friends can now process their annual payments directly through our website at: www.fkbg.com.au Click on the `Join/Renew’ button and follow the prompts.

Upcoming events for Friends

Entries are now open for the Friends of Kyneton Botanic Gardens Art Prize 2026 for a work in any medium featuring the Kyneton Botanic Gardens. For details and to register your artwork please refer to the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival website.
Sunday, September 6th starting at 8am and 9am respectively, the 11km and 5km KDAF Daff Dash fun run through the Gardens. Helpers from among our Friends are needed to assist on the day. Please email the Secretary if you are interested in volunteering as a marshal for the event at: friendsKBG@outlook.com.
Friday, September 11th a 45minute guided walk of the KBGs commencing at 2.00pm (part of the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival Bus Tours). All general visitors welcome to register to attend via the KDAF website at $10/person.
Saturday, September 12th, as above, commencing at 2.45pm.
`Hazelmere’ Open Garden, as part of KDAF Open Gardens program, September 11th and 12th from 9.30am - 3.30pm. Entry is $10/person. Proceeds donated to the Friends - thank you Margot and James! Please email Margot or Helen if you are available to help at the entrance gate with payments.

New Patron of the Friends

We are delighted to announce that Brigid Robertson has agreed to be our inaugural Patron and will be introduced to you and inducted at our 2026 Annual General Meeting in October (to be confirmed).

Brigid, together with her family, has been a generous benefactor to the Friends in recent years donating a share of the profits from their annual Bolobek Garden Fair. This has enabled us to partner with the Council to commission new tree labels, in accordance with the Council and Heritage Victoria-approved design. The first eighty or so of these are in progress and the remainder will be rolled out progressively over the next three years until the entire KBG is completed. This is a major step forward in our improvement plan and one we are very excited about!

We thank Brigid most sincerely and look forward to welcoming her as our Patron at the AGM.

Please note for your diaries, the 2026 Bolobek Garden Fair is on October 3rd and 4th, tickets go on sale August 1st. The Friends look forward to volunteering at this year’s event.
